The Jubilee celebrations continue! After marking the Queen’s 70-year reign with a parade, a church service, and a royal tour of the nations of the United Kingdom, the royal family is heading to a concert tonight: the Platinum Party at the Palace. The event tonight features an all-star lineup. Notably, the show will be opened by Queen and Adam Lambert, and closed by superstar Diana Ross—who is performing live in the UK for the first time in 15 years.
“I have had the honor of meeting The Queen many times throughout my life, including when I was with my family,” Ross said in a statement. “Her Majesty has and continues to be such an incredible inspiration to so many across the world and I was absolutely delighted to receive an invitation to perform on such a momentous and historic occasion.”
Other musicians performing include Sir Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Duran Duran, Craig David, and Andrea Bocelli among others. Other celebrity appearances teased ahead of the event include Sir David Attenborough, David Beckham, and Dame Julie Andrews.
While the Queen herself is not expected to attend, several members of her family will be there, including Princes Charles and William who are set to make speeches, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Princess Anne, the Wessexes, and many other relative. The Sussexes do not appear to be in attendance at the party this evening. Today marks their daughter Lili’s first birthday, and it is understood that they are spending the day privately.
